    Field of Mercy Installation

As part of the Religious Education Conference a Field of Mercy will be created in the Courtyard at the Catholic Leadership Centre.

The installation will be a sea of ‘human hands’ reaching upwards towards the cross of Christ. Each hand will carry a message of mercy – a response to the question:

What does Mercy mean to you?

Each hand will express a delegate’s interpretation of the word, Mercy.

Delegates are invited to participate by:

    • expressing what mercy means to you on a hand template and planting this symbol in the courtyard.
    • experiencing this installation by walking through the Field of Mercy to read delegates’ responses to the theme of Mercy – how mercy is shared, visualised, articulated and demonstrated to others.

The installation is one visual representation of how we understand the meaning of mercy in the Holy Year of Mercy. Here art, symbols and words can connect what is known to what is felt, expressing our innermost feelings.

Hand templates are included in delegates’ conference bags, distributed at registration during the days of the conference.  mercyhands
