    Catholic Education Melbourne supports catechists, pastoral associates and parish coordinators in their work through the website ‘Catechist Central’. On this site, catechists can access resources, professional learning programs, and be directed to other related agencies assisting them with their work with children and families in their parish. Catechist Central includes the following resources:

     

    Seeking to Live the Good News    STLTGN cover 

    Seeking toLive the Good News is a series which forms a Year 1 to 6 parish religious education program. It  is designed to help parish educators facilitate student learning with the support of the family within the parish.

    Order the following Catechist and Student Books that are used in conjunction with Seeking to live the Good News:  

    • Preparing to Receive the Sacrament of Penance
    • Preparing to Receive the Sacrament of Holy the Holy Eucharist
    • Preparing to Receive the Sacrament of Confirmation

    Catholic Agencies      

     
    Professional Learning     Catechists and parish educators are strongly encouraged to attend professional learning with the school’s Religious Education leader as a team, to build and strengthen strong parish-school relationships: 
    • Engaging Scripture 
    • Engaging Prayer 
    • Engaging Sacraments  

    Catechists participating in all nine days of the above professional learning activities, in addition to the completion of one faith formation elective from Catholic Theological College, Yarra Theological Union or Australian Catholic University will be eligible to receive the Archbishop’s Catechist Diploma Certificate. This diploma will be conferred on successful participants during a celebratory Mass in November 2017?
