In an emergency a school must always call the appropriate emergency services on Triple Zero (000).
Following communicating with the emergency service and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the school community, as well as your own personal safety, schools must notify Catholic Education Melbourne as soon as possible. The Office's emergency management contact details should be recorded in the school's emergency management plan.
All schools in Victoria must comply with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority's (VRQA) emergency management minimum requirements. These include having a documented Emergency Management Plan (EMP).
Catholic Education Melbourne provides a range of resources for schools to assist them to prepare for and manage emergencies, including targeted resources to assist schools at risk from bushfires.
