Student Services in Catholic Education
Catholic Education Melbourne works in close collaboration with school communities and is committed to the implementation of inclusive practices which recognise the child at the centre of decision making processes and in supporting all students to value themselves and to be valuable members of society in this millennium. Services are provided to strengthen the capability of all teachers to deliver inclusive, high quality educational programs for students with all abilities.
Catholic education recognises the diverse learning needs of students and provides access to a broad range of consultative and direct services to students. Additional consultancy services and professional learning is available for school communities to support the needs of students with additional learning needs across a broad range of areas including:
Schools work collaboratively with families and are able to access a referral service which provides assessment services and student learning program support, as well as assistance for schools in devising and implementing Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for students with additional learning needs. There is strong recognition of the complex needs of some students and the corresponding need to support schools to build teacher capacity to effectively support students with additional needs using evidence based approaches which are culturally responsive.
